What are Black Pepper's hours of operation?

Can I visit Black Pepper without booking?
Yes, but it helps to book Day Passes through this website at least 24 hours in advance.

How does transportation work?
While guests are welcome to handle their own transportation, Black Pepper can help coordinate roundtrip pick-up and drop-off for an additional fee:

Tuk tuk – $15 (up to four people)

Van – $30 (up to ten people)

Is there food and drink?
Black Pepper currently serves whole grilled duck and whole grilled chicken, and we will be expanding our food menu over this next year. We also have a café that serves a variety of drinks. You can find our current menu here.

Guests are also welcome to carry in food from other restaurants, or bring food in to have a BBQ on our grill. We do not, however, allow drinks to be carried in—other than water. All other drinks must be purchased from our café.

Is there drinking water?
Of course, but Black Pepper does not sell single use plastic bottles of water.

To minimize plastic waste, we instead provide one litre refills of filtered water for 1,000៛. You can also rent refillable water bottles from Black Pepper for 2,000៛, which come with a free fill.

Guests are encouraged to come with their own refillable water bottles.

Are there towels and toiletries?
Yes, Black Pepper has towels for guests to use. We also provide all natural body wash from Saarti, a local Cambodian company that creates all natural beauty and wellness products.
Is there a group discount when camping multiple nights?

Yes, for every three nights you camp, the fourth is free! This is great if you’re wanting to organize a longer camp experience, or if you’d like to purchase a MultiPass and be able to visit Black Pepper multiple times!

We also offer further discounts depending on how many guests are going to be camping. And we love to do add-ons, like free bonfires, if we have at least ten people camping on a given night.

Is smoking allowed?
Yes, smoking is allowed in designated areas. These designated areas are away from the yoga and meditation pavilions.
Is Black Pepper family friendly?
Yes, but children must always be accompanied by an adult, and no more that two kids per adult that’s visiting at a given time. Children 12 and under visit free.
How big is Black Pepper?
Black Pepper is 4 hectares, which is 40,000 square meters. This is roughly equivalent to 10 acres. Some developed, some not.
How much does it cost to camp at Black Pepper?

The price to camp at Black Pepper for one night ranges from 20,000៛ to 140,000៛ per night per person, depending on whether or not you bring your own gear and how many people visit (i.e. $5 – $35/night).

Individual/group camping with own tent: $10/night + $5/additional person

Individual camping renting hut OR tent: $15/night

Couples camping renting hut OR tent: $20/night

Group camping renting hut OR tent: $30/night

When is check-out if I camp?
If you rent a space and spend the night camping, you need to have your belongings packed by 11AM, so we can prepare the space for the next guests. You can, however, stay at Black Pepper until sunset the day of your checkout for no additional fee.
What if I'd like to camp during closed dates?
This can be arranged, but there may not be anyone on the property to help with service in the café. If you’d like to camp through closed dates, please respond to your booking confirmation, and we’ll happily plan on having you around.
Where can I camp if I have my own camping gear?
Guests that have their own camping gear are welcome to pitch their tent(s) wherever they’d like on the property. Under a tree, on the dock, or somewhere away from everyone else…whatever works for you!
What comes with the facility rentals when camping?
Floor mats, sleeping mats, blankets, pillows, torches (flashlights), and bug nets come with all facility rentals.
Does it get cold at night?
While Cambodia is generally warm during the day year round, you might be surprised at how cool/cold it gets during the late nights. We encourage guests that are camping to come prepared with a long sleeved shirt – just in case.
Is there WiFi?
Black Pepper has WiFi, but it doesn’t cover the entire property. All the huts, pavilions, and café are ~36Mbps down and ~14Mbps up. The signal is stronger the closer you are to the café.
Is there parking?
Yes, Black Pepper has several shaded parking stalls for cars and mid-sized vehicles within its property, and there is shaded space along the road for larger vehicles, such as buses.
Can I bring my dog?
While we don’t generally allow any pets to visit Black Pepper unless booking a private event, we do make exceptions for therapy animals.
When do I pay?
Bills are settled before guests depart.

Black Pepper accepts cash and ABA transfers, unless booking a special event.

Camping Details

⋗ Transportation is not included, but can be coordinated upon request for an additional fee. Transportation is not discounted for locals and expats. 100% of transportation fees are paid to drivers.

⋗ Guests must book visit(s) at least 24 hours in advance through Black Pepper’s website, or call.

⋗ To accommodate special event bookings, camping cannot be booked more than 30 days in advance.

⋗ Children twelve and under can visit for free, but must be accompanied by an adult. Limit: two kids per adult.

⋗ Camp three nights, get the next night free.

⋗ Guests are welcome to bring their own camping gear to setup somewhere on our property.

⋗ Facility rentals are an additional fee in addition to the cost paid per night (e.g. huts and pavilions).

⋗ A floor mat, sleeping mat, blanket, pillow, torch, and bug nets are included with all facility rentals.

⋗ Storage can be provided for guests renting any of our facilities upon request.

⋗ At this time, the only facilities that have fans are our pavilions. We will have fans in the huts by the end of 2022.

⋗ Out of respect for our neighbors, Black Pepper does not allow excessively loud music.

⋗ Smoking is allowed in designated areas.

*Hut rentals include sleeping mats, bug nets, blankets, pillows, flashlights, and towels. Tents are similar, except they come with rain flys and can be setup wherever guests like on our property.

Bonfire, $10

Black Pepper can prepare a bonfire for you to enjoy while you’re camping, as well as provide extra wood to burn throughout the night. We include bonfires for free when we have at least 5 guests camping in one night.

GRILL HELP, $15

Would you like to bring food, but have our staff grill it for you? No problem! For groups less than 20 people, Black Pepper can grill for you during your visit for $15. We charge $5 if you’d like to use our grill and charcoal yourself.

Children, Free

Children 12 years of age and under can visit Black Pepper with accompanying adult(s) for free. Limit: two kids per adult. Number of children must be indicated in reservation.

Camp Three Nights, Get One Free

For every three nights you camp, get one night free. This is great if you’re wanting to organize a longer camp experience in the countryside, or if you want to buy a MultiPass for camping and have the ability to visit again!

The entire Black Pepper property can be rented for retreats and special events with at least a 30 days notice.
